Invitation: Benchmarking Club in "Strategies to improve the retention and performance of students with academic difficulties"

12 June 2019

Columbus is pleased to invite you to participate in the U-Benchmarking Club in "Strategies to improve the retention and performance of students with academic difficulties", derived from their educational backgrounds.

This program will foster the interchange of good practices among Latin American and European universities around four thematic axes:

• Detection mechanisms for students at high academic risk,

• Improvement of basic skills in mathematics, language and science,

• Participation of teachers in academic retention,

• Comprehensive, scalable and sustainable strategies.

METODOLOGY

Since 2009, Columbus applies the benchmarking methodology with great success, involving more than 300 academics from more than 80 universities in different thematic areas. The institutions that participate in the Benchmarking exercise benefit from the possibility of comparing themselves with different institutions, identify improvement actions for their own institutional processes, and lay the foundations for later collaborations.

TARGET AUDIENCE

This Benchmarking is an opportunity to create institutional synergies around the retention of students with academic difficulties. The exercise is especially aimed at teams made up of staff from academic vice-rectories, career / program departments, support offices and support for academic retention and success; and in general university staff interested in promoting the retention of students with academic difficulties derived from their training background.

The invitation is that your university adhere to this exercise, organizing a group of academics led by a coordinator (who will register on behalf of the university) and share the practices in one or more of the axes proposed in this BM.

PRACTICAL INFORMATION

Registration: Only Columbus member universities can participate in the program (participation will not have any kind of cost). The registration includes the participation of teams made up of several people from the same institution, the material of the presentations, the recordings of the sessions, as well as a certificate of participation at the end of the program.
