New Columbus Board of Directors appointed

On March 18, 2019, the meeting of the Board of Directors of the Columbus Association was held, with the participation of the current members of the Board: Hugo Oscar Juri, Rector of the Universidad Nacional de Córdoba, Jose de Jesús Williams, Rector of the Universidad Autónoma de Yucatan, Evilazio Borges Teixeira, Rector of the Pontifica Universidad Católica do Rio Grande do Sul, Paulo Jorge Ferreira, Rector of the Universidad de Aveiro, Melba Cárdenas, Director of External Relations of the Universidad Nacional de Colombia (representing Rector Dolly Montoya) and the members of the Secretariat of Columbus, chaired by Daniel Samoilovich, Executive Director of Columbus.

The meeting began with an account of the activities carried out by the Secretariat after the first meeting of the Board of Directors held in the framework of the Columbus Assembly in Córdoba (Argentina) in June, 2018. Then, the Director of Columbus made a proposal of activities and services to be carried out in 2019. In addition, two vital issues for the life of the association were discussed: the financial and budgetary situation of Columbus and the attraction of new members, trying to identify the best strategies to achieve the adhesion of new universities.

Aditionnally, during the meeting, the new Board of Directors was appointed:

President: Hugo Oscar Juri, Rector of the Universidad Nacional de Córdoba

Vice President: Paulo Jorge Ferreira, Rector of the Universidade de Aveiro

Treasurer: José de Jesús Williams, Rector of the Universidad Autónoma de Yucatán

The meeting ended with the intervention of the new President of the Board of Directors, highlighting his commitment to work for the interests of Columbus and take forward the projects proposed for this year.
