12 November 2018

Columbus has nominated 25 candidates from its member Universities and 2 spontaneous candidates from the Latin American region for the Lindau NObel Laureate Meetings dedicated to Physics that will take place in the summer of 2019. Thus, the Columbus Association consolidates as an academic partner of the Meetings and contact reference for Latin America.

The nominated candidates come from the Universidad Nacional de Córdoba (2) of Argentina, University of Antwerp of Belgium, Pontificia Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina y Universidade Católica do Rio Grande do Sul (2) of Brazil, Universidad de Talca of Chile, Universidad Nacional de Colombia (2) and Universidad del Atlántico of Colombia, Universidad Tecnológica Particular de Loja of Ecuador, ITESM, Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León (5), Universidad de Colima y Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla (4) of Mexico, Pontificia Universidad Católica del Peru, Universidade de Aveiro of Portugal and Universidad Simón Bolívar of Venezuela.

The two spontaneous candidates are Latin American students from Columbus non-member universities (University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Universidad Nacional de Mar de Plata). Thanks to the partnership with Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings, Columbus has been able to nominate them as the reference academic partner for spontaneous candidacies in Latin America.

The nomination of these candidates has been coordinated by Columbus, under the conditions and academic criteria of the Selection Panel of the Lindau Meetings Council. These candidatures will now be subject to evaluation by this Selection Panel, which will make the final decision. The results of this call will be announced in March 2019.
