The course begins with a presentation of the challenges faced by coastal areas in the context of climate change, analyzing and producing urban support subsystems in charge of coastal protection, drainage, energy supply, mobility, urban planning, landscaping and resource management as a response to this challenge. The course emphasizes on guaranteeing the sustainability of coastal cities with an integrated and holistic perspective, and a vision enriched by the urban research and intervention projects of the Universidad Tecnológica de Bolívar in Cartagena.

The course is aimed at students at the undergraduate or master level of academic disciplines related to the course such as science and engineering (civil, land, offshore, environmental, oceanic), architecture and urbanism. The selection of the beneficiaries will be made through a contest taking into account: academic average and motivation essay, which will be requested in the registration link. The beneficiary students must pay the costs of travel, accommodation and international insurance costs. The registration deadline for the course is April 30, 2018. The classes will be both in Spanish and English.
