Obama at the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú

23 November 2016

US President Barack Obama met with more than 1,000 young people from Latin America and the Caribbean at the Coliseo Polideportivo of the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú.  He urged them to make a change in society and not wait for governments to do it.

On a historic day, the president stressed that it was his last stop on his last international trip as President of the United States. "I wanted this last public event abroad to be with young people ... It makes me optimistic that you are going to be in charge, the future is yours ... Governments cannot solve everything but societies, with professors, entrepreneurs, doctors, students, all looking for ways to promote values of dignity, humanity and respect ".

After an hour and twenty minutes of speech, the president approached the public to greet him and say goodbye to a great journey.
