Columbus and Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings launch the call for candidates in Chemistry and Economy

Once every year, 30–40 Nobel Laureates convene at Lindau, Germany, to meet the next generation of leading scientists: undergraduates, PhD students, and post-doc researchers from all over the world. The Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings foster the exchange among scientists of different generations, cultures, and disciplines.


Columbus has established an agreement with the Foundation Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings to promote the participation of young students of its universities members in the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings. The universities members may nominate graduates, doctoral or postdoctoral students fellows in the disciplines of physics, chemistry, biology, physiology/medicine and economy to the annual meetings and interdisciplinary meetings held every 3 years.

In 2017 the selected disciplines are Chemistry and Economy

Disciplines and Meetings dates: Chemistry (25-30 June 2017) and Economy (22-26 August 2017).

Columbus quota: 15 (fifteen) for chemistry and 10 (ten) for economy.

Participation Costs: The participation fee for a young scientist amounts to a total of € 5,000.00. The Foundation Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings and/or third party funder(s) covers the full costs for Columbus member applicants. The nominating candidates should cover the travel cost to Lindau, Germany.

The participants presentation shall be co-ordinated by Columbus, in accordance with the selection criteria and academic standards established by the Council’s Review Panel of the Lindau Meetings.
